This season has been full of records breaking and history being made from everything the Boston Bruins are doing, to the NHL’s first animated game and more!

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are having a record-breaking season! Here are some of the records:

Fastest team in NHL history to 50 wins in a season (64GP)

Fewest Games to 40 wins in a single game (53GP)

Fastest team in NHL History to 100 points in a season (61GP)

Bruins are one win away from tying an NHL record for highest wins in the NHL, the current record is 62 wins)

Linus Ullmark: second-fewest games to 30 wins in a single season (37)

First Animated Game: NHL Big City Greens Classic

On March 14th, ESPN, Disney Channel, and the NHL teamed up to bring fans the first-ever live, animated NHL game telecast. They were able to turn the live-action New York Rangers/Washington Capitals game into an animated version that was streamed at the same time. They were even able to turn the broadcasters into animated characters who called game.

Mika Zibanejad of the New York Rangers is now the first NHL player to score a goal in an animated game. And the New York Rangers were the first team to even win an animated game.

I highly recommend checking out highlights of the animated game if you haven’t already!

The five players with hat tricks were: David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins, Alex Tuch of the Buffalo Sabres, Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers, Noah Gregor of the San Jose Sharks, and Carter Verhaeghe of the Florida Panthers who tallied four goals that night.
